Today Pakistan is in turmoil. There was a new blasphemy accusation this week, in which an 18 yr old Christian boy, Patras Masih, was taken into custody and beaten. His 24 Yr old cousin, Sajid Masih, was called in for interrogation, and also beaten, although they found no evidence against him. Those interrogating him also tried to force him to sexually abuse his cousin, but he refused. In desperation, Sajid jumped out the 4th story window to escape. He was in critical condition, but now the latest report is that he has succumbed to his injuries. Today there were various protests, demanding justice, throughout the country of Pakistan, but most likely, their media will not give it any coverage. There was also an attack on Christians in the city of Faisalabad. Tensions are high. Persecution of Christians in Pakistan is increasing daily. Many live in fear and oppression.
Lord, today we pray for the families of Sajid and Patras Masih. Give them comfort and may your Presence be with them in a powerful way. Watch over Patras, as he remains in custody. Lord, let Him hear Your Voice, and know that You are with him. We pray for all Followers of Jesus in Pakistan, that you will cover them with your Love and Peace, and chase away the fear. And we pray for those who are doing the persecuting- Lord, reveal Yourself to them, and forgive them of their sins, and set them free. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
(This article is disturbing, but the world needs to know!)
Pakistan has over 400 Unreached People Groups. The Joshua Project has identified most of these groups and provides information about each one. Join us in praying for these people groups, that each one may have an adequate witness of the Gospel, that the Holy Spirit will prepare People of Peace to be discipled and in turn make more disciples of Jesus Messiah. Today we begin by praying for the Ansari people.
When Pakistani Muslims become followers of Jesus, they often face such fierce persecution that many will go into hiding. There is so much fear of consequences that even the established Christians are afraid to help them. 1 John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love.”
Today we pray for Muslim Background Believers to have such a love and compassion for their families and friends that they will find ways to share the Gospel of Jesus with them. May they, too, know the Hope and Freedom that is found only in Christ. Lord, in Jesus’ Name, we ask for entire households and villages to come to know You as Savior.
